Overview

Of all our tours, this is the one that goes the furthest south of the country. 180 kilometers from our starting point is the city of Évora. On the way to this fantastic city, are fields of trees from which one of Portugal’s most characteristic natural products is extracted; cork. This escapade promises you a day full of cultural richness, history and fantastic landscapes.

Itinerary

1.

The first part of the day will take us on less winding roads than usual. This is due to the distance we have to cover, but also to the terrain. You may use this time to observe the change of climate and vegetation, which is very distinctive of this region.
A stop at the observatory and interpretation center do Sobreiro e da Cortiça is a must. A guided tour of this space will allow you to learn a ton about cork and its various functions and uses. And yes, cork is not only used to produce the stoppers of our wine bottles.

2.

We now continue our way to the city of Évora, where we will have lunch. By strolling through its narrow streets full of charm and history, you might appreciate checking out the ruins of the Roman temple and you will enjoy the visit of the Capela dos Ossos (Chapel of the bones).

3.

After our discovery of the city of Évora, we modify our route and head out to more sinuous roads, in order to ride some curves on our way back to Alcobaça.
